When your resume includes design work on the Lamborghini Huracán, Bugatti Chiron and a couple of Koenigseggs, what next?
For Sasha Selipanov, it’s creating his own hypercar: the NILU.
This otherworldly wonder is a carbon-tubbed, V12-powered monster, with little to get in the way of the raw driving experience.
Which could be quite something, given the promise of a manual gearbox, rear-wheel drive, and that naturally aspirated 6.5-litre engine screaming out 1070hp at 11,000rpm.
But the remit of the NILU is to offer an unfiltered assault on all your senses, at all times, something Selipanov sums up as the “holy **** factor”. Meaning the exterior and interior design is as full-on as the design of mechanical hardware, with a stripped-back cabin, and an engine bay that clearly took one look at a Lamborghini Revuelto’s exposed V12 and said: “Hold my beer”.

The first stop of PWT 2024 is in the books, and what an unbelievable final! The hometown kid, Thomas Herman, made his way to the top of his very first PWT podium! How did all this weirdness begin? Here Dylan kicks off the season by revisiting the surf spot that first made him think differently about the waves we choose to ride. Isabela, Puerto Rico is a wild, side-washed beach-break that challenges most ideas of how to even take off. The island is rich with conventionally better waves, yet for Dylan and his buddies Aron Geiger, Carlos Cruz, Hector Santamaria and others, Isabela is their playground of choice. “Yes,” says Dylan at one point, “other spots were pumping. But I didn’t care! This is all I’ve ever wanted.” It’s also kind of their little secret. Yet decades of land exploitation in the area has put Isabela and other surf zones under threat, and it’s time to surrender the secret in order to save it. As Dylan says: “I’d rather share my favorite spot with everyone in the world, rather than lose it forever.”

Raised on the sand at Pipeline and striking swells to Tahiti since he was a teenager, at 31, Hawaiian-born 2x World Champion John John Florence is inarguably one of the best surfers ever at Teahupo'o.
Besides his deep relationship with the community and experience at the wave, John is one of the most naturally gifted, technical backside tuberiders on the planet.
Catching his first wave at six months old, John John was touted as a prodigy and appeared as a youth phenom in international surf magazines and surf films before he was even in high school.
However, surfers like John don't emerge from a vacuum. The oldest of three brothers, John, Ivan and Nathan's mother Alexandra didn't have your standard single mother lifestyle, with John and the boys being taken under wing by the world's best surfer and looked out for by the entire North Shore community.
Despite a handful of frustrating injuries (broken back, wrist, arm, leg, and more) since qualifying for the World Championship Tour, John John won the Pipe Masters, the Triple Crown, and two back to back World Title's in 2016 and 2017, all while consistently producing and starring in fan-favorite surf films that are as high art as they are performance, and earning John multiple Surfer Poll Awards throughout his career.

Lost in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, on the island of Tahiti, lies a village that's home to one of the world's most beautiful waves - Teahupo'o. Facing mystical mountains covered in a wild and luxuriant jungle, the perfect wave of Teahupo'o wraps around the reef to create a powerful tube that attracts the best surfers on the planet.
Photographer Tim Mckenna has been documenting this paradise for over 25 years. From Laird Hamilton's Millennium Wave to WSL competitions, the locals pushing the limits, and the upcoming Olympic Games, he has been a privileged witness to Teahupo'o.
Alongside all the big names in surfing, he has seen the emergence of a generation of local kids who have come to tame this mythical wave. Among them are Tahurai Henry and Gilbert Teave.
Aware of how lucky they are to have grown up in this paradise, they dedicate all their energy and heart to preserving the place and passing on their culture to future generations. They are the guardians of the temple, the heirs of the village. They are the children of Teahupo'o.

Interest in Gnosticism and Gnostic texts has exploded since the discovery of the Nag Hammadi Library. However, Gnostic Scriptures began to be discovered as early the 18th century. In 1769, a Gnostic codex came to light that combined ancient mystical ascent literature, gnostic cosmological speculation of the lower Aeons and celestial "Treasuries of Light," along with the quasi-magical rituals, baptisms, ciphers and seals to ascend into the realm of Light. These two incredibly complex volumes are now known to scholars as the Books of Jeu, after the Demiurge of the text, and are not only the most complete and complex manuals of ritual ascent but also the only illustrated Gnostic texts from antiquity. First bought as an investment project, Casa Moderna is a dream home that now forms the primary residence of designer Olga Doykhen. Developing Spanish Colonial-style architecture through the considered use of traditional stone, Doykhen creates her ideal living environment.
Located in South Orange County, between Los Angeles and San Diego, Casa Moderna is just a five-minute walk from the harbour and beach. In response to the warm climate, the dream home champions Spanish Colonial-style architecture with white walls, red clay roof tiles and arches. “Unfortunately, a lot of houses in suburban areas use foam or fake architectural features,” says Doykhen, “but I was inspired by that and thought ‘Why not transition this house into a real Spanish Colonial-style house with real architectural features?’” The modern iteration of Casa Moderna is the only type in which vital stylistic elements are thoroughly integrated. In terms of function, the dream home offers places to rest, entertain visitors and focus on family.
On the edge of Casa Moderna, the fence has no gate; instead, the site entrance is marked by minimal Flos lights. Having first passed through a modest wooden door, residents enter the dream home through a glass front door integrated into a rotunda. Inside, a hallway leads to a dining room, butler’s pantry and kitchen. Pocket doors in the kitchen open to an alfresco dining area, fire pit and outdoor kitchen – adjacent is a cold plunge pool, outdoor shower and sauna. While the ground floor of Casa Moderna is mostly dedicated to communal areas – with the exception being an office – the first floor is split into two private bedroom wings. “One [wing] is my daughter's wing where her bedroom is located with her extra living room and a guest bedroom,” explains Doykhen. “Both bedrooms have their own bathroom.” The other wing comprises a primary suite joined to two closets and a primary bathroom.
“In this particular house, I used a lot of natural materials, a lot of timber, stone, wool, leather, as well as limewash on all of our bathrooms,” says Doykhen. Travertine supplied by Ollin Stone is employed across the first floor to reinforce the European character of the dream home. “Olga came to our team looking for authentic natural stone,” says Scott Foster, creative director at Ollin Stone. “We worked with her to find the most authentic Italian travertine for her to signify different rooms.” The resulting product is durable, vein-cut, silver crystal with contemporary expression. On the ground floor, ocean-silver-coloured stone visually unites the kitchen, outdoor kitchen and external water feature.
Some of the biggest challenges in creating Casa Moderna came from the fact that, on some of the many occasions when Doykhen fed ideas to her subcontractors, their answer was ‘No.’ “Those challenges, they made me a better designer,” says Doykhen, “[the challenges made me work] to communicate my ideas and to show the examples from Europe, how it's actually been made and, in the end, we actually succeeded.” The seamless application of natural stone across Casa Moderna solidifies not only its character, but also its status as an established family home.

Witness the power, dedication, and skill of Olympic athletes as they compete for their chance to shine on the world stage.
Break. Climb. Skate. Ride. The Olympic Qualifier Series is the ultimate stage for Paris. The two-part festival-style series will make its first stop in Shanghai on 16-19 May. The final leap for athletes to secure a spot in an Olympic Games. The results here will help determine which athletes qualify for Paris 2024 in breaking, BMX freestyle, skateboarding, and sport climbing. The Shanghai event will be a celebration of sport and culture, with music, fashion and art combining with the sporting competition to create a festival experience. It's a chance for fans and athletes alike to go watch and try different sports, experience epic moments together and meet a lot new people.
Athletes in BMX freestyle, sport climbing, and breaking will compete for a maximum of 50 points at each of the events in Shanghai and Budapest, making a maximum possible total of 100 points per athlete. Points from both stops will be compiled into a ranking for each of the sports, that will determine which athletes earn quota places for Paris 2024.
For skateboarding, the points system is divided into three parts: results from prior competitions and the results from the Shanghai and Budapest Olympic Qualifier Series events respectively. One-third of the points are allocated from past competitions, while the remaining two-thirds will be up for grabs in Shanghai and Budapest. The combined points from all competitions will give the final ranking.
We’re taking it back to that time when Action Bronson tried the best coffees and pastries in all of NYC.
