SDT House: A Masterpiece of Light and Space
The SDT House, located in the Sharon district of Israel, is a 2-level family home with a basement floor. Its beauty lies in its clear architectural scheme, featuring two opposing courtyards that introduce light into the house and connect the surrounding spaces both vertically and horizontally. The depth of the building's volume is highlighted by these courtyards and the deep openings, which allow light to penetrate deeply into the structure.

Set in New South Wales, Lavender Bay House enjoys a coveted form of visual luxury. With access to some of the finest views in Sydney, Tobias Partners establishes a peaceful home that enables deep reflective thought.
Providing ample accommodation for residents and guests, the lofty volumes of Lavender Bay House balance a sense of space with experiential comfort. The design brief for the family home required maximising the benefits of its site, including strong visual connections to the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge, Luna Park and Sydney Opera House. As one of the clients works from home full-time, Tobias Partners dedicates the top of the building to an office space. Accompanied by a terrace lounge, the tranquil office overlooks the bustling harbour on one side and a private courtyard garden on the other. In many ways, the two contrasting views capture the essence of the project.
In terms of layout, the home begins with a single-storey entrance on Bayview Street. Having caught sight of the first framed view, residents descend a level to reach a primary bedroom and three children’s bedrooms. Continuing down, the next level supports a main family living space in addition to a dining area and kitchen. The final level below sees a rumpus room spill out to a lawn and pool, beyond which lies the harbour. Reinforcing the relaxed character of the ground floor, there is also a wellness area with a steam room tucked towards the rear of the building. A staircase on the southern side of the house joins together the individual levels while drawing natural light from above – presented in this way, the home is reminiscent of the calming outdoors.
While the context of Lavender Bay House is largely advantageous, it also entails challenges, which are addressed throughout the project. The liveliness of the harbour setting has the potential to overwhelm residents and is therefore balanced by a soothing, restrained material palette in which finishes inside the home are led by form. Tobias Partners also recognises the difficulty in providing privacy to a house visible from both the water and an adjacent apartment block. Using a band of off-form concrete upturns, the design firm presents a privacy device as a refined architectural detail.
From the boundary of Lavender Bay House to its interiors, the need for both privacy and connection is thoroughly considered. Tobias Partners uses a Vitrocsa glazing system – known to have the thinnest profile on the Australian market – to blend the thresholds of the home and immediate surrounds. Equally, a combination of external louvers and awnings blocks undesirable views so that, inside the dwelling, focus remains on the most attractive vistas. Private and communal spaces are expertly woven together to create a composition that echoes the rhythm of family life.
Taking cues from public buildings, Lavender Bay House welcomes occupants with triple-height spaces and a field of skylights. Such generous expressions, thoughtfully employed by Tobias Partners, allow the family home to match the extraordinary nature of its context.

Letting their imagination run wild, the team at Nina Maya Interiors has created celebrity holiday home Residence F from the ground up. Located upon a hill, Residence F is afforded breathtaking views of the immaculate Sydney harbour bridge and city as well as sightlines across to Manly. Leading to the celebrity holiday home is a long driveway that offers seclusion and privacy to the inhabitants. Positioned at the end the drive is the residence, which slowly reveals itself before a landscaped walkway leads to a pivot door. Through the front door, the house tour slowly reveals the unique character, decor and interior design of the celebrity holiday home. In the centre of the room is the custom-built staircase – its meticulously carved curve design, LED steps and skylight above frame the staircase as an art piece.
Involved in the architecture, planning, development, project management and interior design, Nina Maya was able to remain hands-on over the five years it took to create the coastal home. Though Maya Sternberg and Nina Maya Interiors followed the clients’ original brief, which was to create a world class space that was fitting of the location, the team took risks with the overall design. This was also backed by a close relationship with the clients as Residence F is the third property they have worked on together. This project was to be the clients’ showcase house, where they could entertain guests, spend time with family and friends and admire the city. As the celebrity holiday home is surrounded by heritage trees, the house has a monolithic feeling and is able to hold its own amid the landscape. To achieve this, the architect covered the entire building in Italian travertine, which gives the exterior decor a sense of gravitas, purpose and history while also allowing the breathtaking home to feel as if it’s always been there.
Shown in the house tour are several spaces where the owners can connect with the landscape. One such place is the unique glass conservatory on the ground level. Additionally, several organic-shaped skylights are designed to offer views to the treetops, while sliding glass doors emphasise seamless indoor-outdoor living. Part of the home’s iconic interior design is the kitchen, which has become the heart of the home. The kitchen also creates the design language for the home as the architect has selected an Italian stone with colour variations and a sinuous curve to fill the space.
Continuing to push the boundaries with each project – and Residence F is no exception – the team created a custom glass brick for the home’s exterior, which invites a unique quality of light into the interior. From the dappled morning light in the conservatory to the terrace where the sunset soaks the pool and courtyard with a warm glow, the celebrity holiday home grasps natural light at every opportunity. Through class and considered detailing, Residence F makes the most of its surrounds and provides an elegant base to vacation and entertain.

The arrival of the new Temerario – a replacement for the Huracán – now means Lamborghini offers all its models with hybrid powertrains. Hmmm…
But fret not, for this is Lambo’s take on hybridisation. So, while the Huracán's naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 has been swapped for a mere 4.0-litre V8, it has gained twin turbos and over 150bhp in the process. And, just for good measure, Lamborghini has allied it to not one, not two, but three electric motors, for a 907bhp total.
That, and compared to the now-defunct V10, the forced-induction V8 revs higher. To the tune of 10,000rpm! Still want that six-cylinder McLaren Artura or Ferrari 296 GTB?

A modern concrete house, Forever House by MCK Architects overcomes the complexities of a sloping site and a crowded suburb through a considered approach to design, the built form and the landscape.
Located in Seaforth, the modern concrete house is perched above the Middle Harbour foreshore, appearing as a simple concrete form more akin to an object floating on the land rather than something built to be entrenched in it. “It’s still a dense suburb, but it has a wonderful sense of calm to it,” notes Steve Koolloos, architect and director at MCK Architects.
Upon entry into the modern concrete house, there is a seamless departure from the busyness of the streetscape that any design lover would appreciate. “Visitors entering at street level climb up with the site’s topography,” says Koolloos. For the homeowners, entering the home is a slightly different experience. “They arrive at street level and are able to park their car in the garage, which acts as a basement, and enter at the rear.” This space features a glass wall into the pool, allowing filtered light to enter.
The home is blessed with vistas of the still waters of Middle Harbour. Glass walls and retractable doors connect to the views at every opportunity, allowing for cross-ventilation and natural light from the north, while smart landscaping by Lone Pine Landscapes creates privacy.
Similarly, as one makes their way through the modern concrete house, engaging with the landscape to north and south is inevitable. “On the northern side, we have the rear yard and pool … and on the southern side, we have a landscaped terrace from which people can sit and enjoy the views of Middle Harbour.”
The floor plan relies on vertical circulation via a stacked stairwell leading all the way from the basement up to the first floor. The first floor houses the more private rooms and is split into two zones – one for children and one for adults – separated by a slim void that allows natural light to penetrate deep into the living room. Meanwhile, the master bedroom is the only space on the first floor that runs the whole width of the plan, with a glass walk-in robe and sheer curtains. “The glass is curved to soften its feeling as one moves in and around the space, while the ensuite offers a very calm, private space but still enables its users to visually connect to the backyard,” says Koolloos.
The interior design is pared-back and minimalist, with materials and decor dominated by concrete and timber. Other textures throughout the home include natural stones and timber textures, as well as the blank, white canvases of the white plasterboard wall.
The resulting modern concrete house is a beautiful fusion of ideas and people, equal parts the architect and the client. “I am most proud of how the clients shared our vision,” notes Koolloos. “When I walk through this home, I can see and feel the parts we have brought to the table, and I’m equally as excited about the parts the owners have brought into the home.” Similarly, MCK Architects is deliberately not driven by a particular style or aesthetic, which was also a challenge at times.

Thoroughly integrated with its surroundings, Pippins by Webster Architecture & Interiors is an architecturally restrained, breathtaking holiday home that embodies a thoughtful response to its environment.
Located in Red Hill on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, flanked by vineyards and with views to the bay, Pippins serves as a holiday house for a Melbourne-based family. Dan Webster, principal of Webster Architecture & Interiors, says there were two elements that dictated the overall layout and form of the breathtaking holiday home. “Firstly, it was around protection from the winds that howl up the hill from the bay,” he says. “We also wanted to enable views of the bay because it is the most striking aspect of this site.”
As Pippins is set far from the street, the architectural experience begins as soon as one enters the site. “We created this sense of entry and approach where we’re not revealing the whole house,” says Webster. “We just wanted to give a glimpse of what is to come, so as you drive in, you see the corner of the roof popping over the shoulder of these man-made grass mounds. This allows you to move down the levels of the site to the entrance level of the house.”
A single-storey, X-shaped structure, Pippins features large expanses of glass that give access to both the views and the entertaining spaces at the front and rear of the home. Its two solid concrete roofs overlap, cantilevering 2.5 metres along the perimeter of the home and extending 3.5 metres at the corners. The soffit of the roof tapers up to a 100-millimetre bullnose, imbuing the breathtaking holiday home with a sense of lightness. “One of my favourite aspects is the overlap between the two roofs, with the lower pavilion roof tucking underneath the upper roof – you get this really cool cross-section of the two concrete forms,” says Webster. In response to the windiness of its location, the house is formed of robust materials: Krause bricks combine with steel which, sitting above the brickwork, separates it from the concrete roof.
The wide, gallery-style entrance of the breathtaking holiday home presents a framed view of the bay directly ahead. At its beginning, the entryway is flanked by service and utility spaces to the right and a secondary bedroom wing to the left, comprising three bedrooms set up in a hotel-style suite with wardrobes, ensuites and an area large enough for both a lounge and bed. Back in the entry, and moving towards the framed view, one turns right into the primary suite with a bedroom, walk-in wardrobe and ensuite, or left into the living-kitchen-dining space. Generous amounts of glazing on both sides of the room establish panoramic views of the bay as well as a visual connection to the internal garden. In the evening when the view is no longer visible, sheer curtains can be drawn to create a sense of warmth and cosiness.
Throughout the design, documentation and construction phases involved in the creation of Pippins, Webster Architecture & Interiors remained committed to the vision of a breathtaking holiday home. The resulting residence – a product of collaboration between architect, builders, tradesmen, consultants and client – resists strong winds, embraces sweeping views and enhances its residents’ quality of life.

For Sasha Selipanov, it’s creating his own hypercar: the NILU.
This otherworldly wonder is a carbon-tubbed, V12-powered monster, with little to get in the way of the raw driving experience.
Which could be quite something, given the promise of a manual gearbox, rear-wheel drive, and that naturally aspirated 6.5-litre engine screaming out 1070hp at 11,000rpm.
But the remit of the NILU is to offer an unfiltered assault on all your senses, at all times, something Selipanov sums up as the “holy **** factor”. Meaning the exterior and interior design is as full-on as the design of mechanical hardware, with a stripped-back cabin, and an engine bay that clearly took one look at a Lamborghini Revuelto’s exposed V12 and said: “Hold my beer”.

A secret house nestled into a grassy rock escarpment, Seascape is a romantic honeymoon cottage set within a tiny South Pacific cove. In a deeply romantic conception of a humble beachside cottage, Patterson Associates attempts to create feelings of stillness, harmony and connection.
Seascape is ensconced above a rocky cove on a sprawling 4000-acre farm on New Zealand’s South Island. So remote, most people arrive at this secret house via helicopter or a long, winding farm track.
The secret house is humble, designed to exist harmoniously within the pristine cove it inhabits. The house itself is small, with just three rooms – a lobby, a combined living and sleeping area and a bathroom. It features an undulating glass wall that offers a 180-degree view of powerful, crashing waves, just metres away.
Seascape is designed as a place for couples to retreat to; the brief embedded in a kind of fantasy of a lovers' cave. Designed for only two occupants and simple in its arrangement, Seascape celebrates the simple rituals of life as a couple; bathing, sleeping, eating and connecting. This secret house is a vehicle to allow people to connect with each other and nature.
Complementing a compact and simple floorplan, the views are all-encompassing and make the space feel much larger than its actual size. An interlocking geometric facade allows views both of the bay and out to rocky spires.
Seascape is built using all-natural, local materials, including in-situ poured concrete floors and an earth-turfed roof. Notably, the home is constructed from rock quarried from the farm where it resides. With no way of getting a concrete truck to the site, all the concrete was mixed and poured by hand. The home is lined with horizontal macrocarpa wood, forming integrated joinery, wall and ceiling panels that soften the interior space both aesthetically and acoustically. Natural materials are complemented by pared-back, minimal furnishings that are mainly sourced from the locale.
Seascape’s design is also informed by nature from a very pragmatic standpoint. A large wall of double-glazed, low e-glass sits under a precast concrete earthquake shell, while shatterproof steel mullions utilise earthquake-resistant sliding heads. The structure’s integration into the escarpment above also protects occupants from falling debris. Moreover, “the wood is a reference to the ecology of the peninsula and what has been lost and here, we have used it sparingly as a liner. But it is also as a reference to the replanting and reforestation program that is in its infancy at the moment,” says Andrew Patterson, director at Patterson Associates. The home is self-sustainable, relying on on-site water harvesting and wastewater treatment.
Patterson Associates designs a secret house that is just as much a part of the landscape as it is a shelter. “Our philosophy reflects a New Zealand philosophy,” says Patterson. By tapping into the idea of connection through the natural world, this deeply moving cottage embodies what we all strive for in our homes and lives – a sense of belonging. For Patterson, the greatest joy about the project is staying there himself and experiencing this deep, unwavering affinity with nature.

Christian von Koenigsegg is a glutton for engineering punishment. His Swedish hypercar company currently builds the Jesko (which has just set the 0-400km/h-0 record) and it’ll soon start delivering the new CC850 and Gemera to customers. That’s three distinct models, each with their own head-scratchingly complex innovations.
And yet, amongst all this, he said “yes” to a request from a customer who wanted their older-model Agera RS melded with the best bits of a Jesko and CC850 to create an absolute one-off.
Many engineering headaches later we have this, the Chimera, which blends an Agera RS with the 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine from a Jesko and the fiendishly complex manual-cum-automatic gearbox from the CC850.

Mat’s taken a trip to Yiannimize to review Yianni’s Lamborghini Revuelto!
The Revuelto is Lambo’s all-new flagship supercar, and Mat’s about to discover whether it’s a worthy successor to the almighty Aventador.
For starters, let’s check out the performance! The Revuelto rolls up powered by a 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 along with three electric motors - one on the rear axle, and two on the front. Combined, this all-new supercar produces an almighty 1,015hp and 1,062Nm of torque! It can fly to 60mph in just 2.5 seconds, and it has a crazy top speed of 218mph!
Regarding the design, the Revuelto is unmistakable as a Lamborghini. Up front, it looks extremely aggressive, with huge air intakes flanking the front splitter and surrounded by huge three-piece DRLs. The side profile looks similar to the Aventador (that’s no bad thing, mind), and around the back the most prominent feature is the huge centre-placed quad tailpipes. Naturally, there’s also a massive diffuser, and the glorious V12 is left open to the elements! Naturally, though, it’s totally sealed so nothing can get in!
Step inside and the interior is very similar to the Aventador. There’s a new set of digital dials that are super bright and offer a load of adjustments, while there’s also a large infotainment screen in the centre of the dash. However, while it looks smart, it’s not the best system. It also seems like Lambo has taken a leaf out of Tesla’s book, with the indicator stalk removed and replaced by buttons on the steering wheel!
So the Revuelto looks and sounds incredible, but it doesn’t come cheap. Before you’ve added any options, it will set you back around £450,000! So is it worth it? You’ll need to stick with Mat and Yianni to see for yourself!

This is the MG Cyber GTS Concept, a glimpse at what an MG Cyberster with a hard-top roof might look like.
Now, you might scoff at our headline, but Porsche will cease production of the combustion-engined Cayman in the middle of 2025 and the replacement will be electric.
Moreover, MG has already stolen a march on Porsche by getting the electric Cyberster roadster into production well ahead of any Boxster BEV.
That might be again true with the Cyber GTS: we’ve yet to see any Cayman BEV prototypes testing, but this MG concept has parking sensors and wipers, clues that this is essentially a production car in waiting.

This is the Red Bull RB17 – and it’s much more than F1 design genius Adrian Newey’s greatest hits amalgamated into a hypercar.
Sure, this £5m, track-only spaceship has the likes of a blown diffuser and Newey’s favourite Formula 1 engine configuration (a naturally aspirated V10) but the RB17 is instead what happens when Newey isn’t trying to find loopholes in restrictive Formula 1 regulations. The RB17 is what happens when Newey is unleashed!
The result, the mind-blowing result, is a car (very rich) mere mortals can buy – and one that can lap a racetrack as fast as a contemporary Formula 1 car.
Behind Newey is the might of Red Bull Applied Technologies, the sister company to Red Bull Racing that uses the F1 team’s know-how and applies it to wider engineering challenges. As a calling card to show their expertise, the RB17 is quite something.

On Thursday, June 27th, 2024, at an airfield in Örebro, Sweden, a Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut driven by factory test driver, Markus Lundh, completed several new world records for a fully homologated production vehicle.
In one acceleration, from stand still, up to 412.72 km/h and back down again, the Jesko Absolut managed to take the following production car records:
0-400-0 km/h in 27.83 seconds. That's 0.98 seconds faster than the 28.81sec record for the same run set in 2023 by the Koenigsegg Regera at the same airfield. The Jesko Absolut's minimal downforce design (Cd of just 0.278) helped the car achieve the 0-400 km/h sprint section of the run in a mere 18.82 seconds (vs. 20.68s for Regera).
0-250-0 mph in 28.27 seconds. That´s 1.33 seconds faster than the Regera's 2023 record. The 0-250 mph sprint was achieved in 19.20 seconds.
The Jesko Absolut was driven in standard, as-delivered form except for a roll cage fitted for driver protection, plus a One:1 seat favoured by the driver. It was running on E85 fuel and shod with Michelin Cup2 R tires. Times were recorded and verified using industry-standard timing equipment from Racelogic with verification of the data by Racelogic Ltd HQ.

The McLaren Solus GT is a computer-game fantasy car made real. It started life in the virtual world of Gran Turismo back in 2017, but with rivals like Aston Martin, Bugatti, Lamborghini and Red Bull getting in on the track-only hypercar market, McLaren needed to up its game from the Senna GTR. Enter the real-life Solus GT.
There have been many changes from the virtual Vision GT to IRL Solus GT and – from our point of view – they’re all good. The biggest and most pivotal is the switch from the familiar McLaren twin-turbocharged V8 (plus make-believe electric motors for the front wheels) to a pure rear-driven configuration with a naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 engine that revs to 10,000rpm. It produces 829bhp – or 858bhp with a ram-air effect at higher speeds.
Beyond that, the tub is carbon fibre, the suspension is double-wishbones all round and, oh, did we mention it’s a single, central-seat layout?!
Just 25 Solus GTs will be built and, of course, they’re all sold, at north of £3m each.

It’s the end of an era – and that’s no understatement. On 20 June we’ll see Bugatti’s next hypercar, one powered by an all-new V16 engine, and that means the reign of the W16 is over.
And what a reign it’s been. The numbers from the unique 8.0-litre, quad-turbo, sixteen-cylinder leviathan might not seem all that remarkable in a world of 2000bhp electric supercars, but when the Veyron was unveiled in 2005, its 987bhp (1001PS) output was staggering.
Over the next two decades, power went up to 1200PS for the Super Sport model, the arrival of its 2016 successor (the Chiron) saw a rise to 1500PS, and its own Super Sport variant took us to 1600PS – and over 300mph.
Let’s not get lost in the numbers though, despite the Top Trumps statistics. The Veyron was the world’s first hypercar, it and the Chiron normalised four-figure outputs, and the pair remain the only true luxury hypercars. Nothing else has such a colossal breadth of abilities.
To celebrate the W16, we took the Veyron and Chiron on one final road trip. Together with Bugatti Chief Test Driver Andy Wallace, who shared a few secret stories – including one of jumping a Chiron at over 250mph!

Aston Martin never seems to be stable, with every bit of good news followed by bad. Fernando Alonso has signed a long-term deal with its Formula 1 team… but the on-track results aren’t a patch on 12 months ago. After the facelift Vantage we drive here, a revised version of the DBX SUV follows… but in this transition phase to new models, Aston’s Q1 2024 sales dropped by a quarter. And on and on it goes.
If the new Vantage is to break that cycle, it needs to be a sure-fire hit, with no ‘ifs’ and no ‘buts’. To do that, Aston has moved it out of Porsche 911 GTS territory, upping the old car’s twin-turbo V8 from 503bhp to 656bhp. It’s now more powerful than a 911 Turbo S – and with only two driven wheels, quite a starting point for an ‘entry level’ Aston Martin sports car…
The looks are lairier too, and banished is the creaky Mercedes-sourced infotainment system, replaced by Aston’s own tech. But it’ll count for nowt if the overhauled chassis can’t handle all that power.

How do you replace the Chiron, a hypercar that ultimately topped out with nearly 1,600bhp and a top speed over 300mph?
CEO Mate Rimac toyed with a hybridised Chiron and even reskinning his own electric Nevera hypercar, but in the end settled on an all-new car…
Praise be, for what a thing it is! The engine is a naturally aspirated 8.3-litre V16 that’ll rev to 9000rpm, and together with three electric motors, the hybrid powertrain pops out a stonking 1,775bhp (or a nice round 1,800PS). It will be limited to 277mph – but don’t bet against a top speed record attempt in time.
The interior is, perhaps, even more special, taking a leaf out of Pagani’s book for delectable details, with the exposed workings of the intricate, incredible dials giving the Tourbillion its name.
