If Australia is one of surfing’s greatest nations then Sydney might just be the world’s greatest surfing city. With four-million people sharing the world’s largest natural harbour and 50-miles of coastline, blessed with incredible waves year round, Sydney is a modern metropolis on the water, with a storied, gritty surfing underbelly.

From Isabel Letham famously riding waves with Hawaiian Duke Kahanamoku at Freshwater Beach in 1915 through to a string of world champions including Tom Carroll, Mark Occhilupo and Layne Beachley, and on down the line to modern stars like Molly Picklum and Jarvis Earle, Sydney’s competitive bloodline runs deep. While the greater surfing community might know and toast the world champions, it is the hardcore local boardrider scene that is the DNA everything is built upon, and from Maroubra to Avoca and Newport to Bondi, host Ashton Goggans meets a cross-section of crusty locals, and explores the world class waves they live and breathe.

On the back of radical surfing Sydney was not only responsible for the surfboard revolutions of the Brookvale Six and the invention of Simon Anderson’s thruster, but spawned an irreverent and sardonic multi-million surf industry of its own. If that’s not enough, the good old Aussie cafe, complete with avocado toast, washed down with a flat white, has become a global phenomenon, and they were largely born of the beaches too.

RDJ House is nestled on a descending slope within a forest reserve, blending with the surrounding topography. Designed to appear as a single-story structure at first glance, the house gradually reveals two levels. The ground floor features open social spaces with travertine floors, natural wood, and large glass panels that blur the boundary between indoors and the surrounding nature. A floating swimming pool connects to the garden, while the upper-level bedrooms offer panoramic views. Below, the basement hosts entertainment and utility spaces, with stone and small window facades contrasting the airy upper floor. Today, AD joins architect Masato Igarashi of IGArchitects to see how he makes the most of his small Tokyo home. Tokyo has the highest population concentration in all of Japan, so large plots of land have been divided into two or three across the city, making tiny living the reality for many residents. While his home is technically only two floors, Igarashi fits an impressive seven staggered levels into the home with no walls, creating an open space where the seventh floor feels like the same room as the first.

Betsy and Edward Cohen have had a 40+ year love affair with their Paul Rudolph home located in the picturesque Casey Key area of Florida. Renowned for his innovative designs that shaped mid-century modern architecture, Rudolph’s work on Casey Key exemplifies his mastery of form, space, and light. This iconic structure reflects his commitment to blending architecture with the natural landscape, creating a harmonious and timeless design that continues to inspire architects and admirers alike. As Betsy and Edward’s children grew and started families of their own, they came to the realization that their once-cozy home no longer accommodated the expanding needs of their family. That's when they decided to build the ultimate place for all their families to gather while enjoying the coastal weather that Florida has to offer.

In addition to Rudolph’s work, the Casey Key estate also features two remarkable houses designed by Toshiko Mori. Known for her contemporary approach and sensitivity to context, Mori's additions complement Rudolph’s original vision while bringing a fresh perspective to the architectural landscape. Together, these works highlight the evolution of modern architecture in Florida, bridging past and present through thoughtful design. The effort that Betsy and Edward have done to protect/preserve the Rudolph home while adjusting to fit their families needs says alot about the love affair that started for them when they purchased the home in 1981.

The Cretya Ubud is a stunning club located in Bali, Indonesia, renowned for hosting performances by renowned DJs. Situated amidst Bali's lush nature, this venue combines the vibrant energy of electronic music with the natural tranquility of the surrounding landscape.

Cretya Ubud offers an immersive experience to visitors, considered one of the most beautiful clubs in Indonesia.

I had the honor of performing at one of the main parties at the club, SAVANNAH. I was responsible for closing the event, playing right at sunset from 5pm to 8pm, blending House Music, Melodic House, and Progressive House.

The beginning of the set is marked by a more relaxing vibe, where I play tracks like "When You Got Love" by Michael Canitrot (00:21:00) and "The Brooklyn Gypsy" by Danny Tenaglia (00:25:00). The peak of the set is right at sunset, when I play "Big Jet Plane" by Animal Trainer and Jan Blomqvist (00:51:00) and "Who Loves the Sun" by DSF (01:08:00). I conclude the set with one of my tracks, "By My Side" (01:56:00).

ARRCC revitalized a contemporary Cape Town home, originally designed by Antonio Zaninovic, by harmonizing new architectural additions with the existing structure and its natural surroundings. Key enhancements include a new garden pavilion and the transformation of an upper-level bedroom into a luxurious penthouse suite. The interiors were entirely reimagined, featuring a new enclosed wine room, while the exterior boasts an expansive terraced lawn. Throughout the project, ARRCC emphasized a dynamic interplay between modern architectural lines and the organic essence of the mountainside, strengthening the home's connection to the landscape and panoramic city views. Málaga is located in Andalucía, south of Spain. It is also known as "the capital of the Costa del Sol." An estimate of six million tourists visit the city every year to enjoy the climate, the sea and its beaches. Málaga is also the largest and most populated coastal city in southern Spain.

This beautiful city has two thousand-eight hundred years of history and considered as one of the oldest cities in Europe. A walk by the old town is a must!

Málaga experienced the greatest civilizations of the Mediterranean, from the Phoenicians and the Greeks to the Romans, due to its strategic location of the port, a significant area along the trade routes since the ancient times.

The city center of Málaga is a place where you can see lots of interesting places. Málaga is rich in culture, modernity and historical monuments.

Its history dates back to the Phoenician times, and later passed onto the Romans and Arabs who left part of their culture and constructions. The capital of the Costal del Sol, Málaga was in the end conquered by the Catholic Kings in the year 1487, leaving an incomplete cathedral due to the lack of funds back then, known as "La Manquita." The are also a numerous monuments to visit, including the Alcazaba Arabic Castle and the Gibralfaro castle.

Pablo Picasso was also born in the city of Málaga, the Plaza where he used to play as a child still exists today, as well as his house which is now a museum that is accessible today for everyone.

The Calle Larios offers a mixture of well-known chain stores and boutiques for shopping, and cafetería's and ice cream parlors as well. Through its streets you can find more shops and restaurants and bars.

Málaga has also some of the best tapas bars in the country. Much of which is fish and shellfish due to its Mediterranean location. At the center of the town, a wide range mix of restaurants, from traditional Spanish and seafood, to Moroccan, South American, and Asian cuisines respectively.

There’s a secretive company in Germany that’s about to get rather a lot of attention. It’s called HWA, and in just a few days’ time will show the world its first restomod, a £700k stunner based on the Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Evo II.

Who? How much? Fret not, because HWA’s pedigree means its new ‘EVO’ will be worth every penny. You see, founder Hans Werner Aufrecht (hence HWA) was originally the A in AMG, and after selling up to Mercedes in the late ‘90s, set up his motorsport business and has never looked back.

HWA subsequently ran Mercedes’ DTM efforts and is the most successful team in series history. Bar Formula One, HWA has pretty much had a hand in every other Mercedes race car too, including the GT3 versions of the SLS and AMG GT. HWA also ran the Mercedes Formula E factory team, winning the driver and manufacturer titles in 2020/’21 and ‘21/’22.

Plus, it built the rare-groove CLK DTM road car, and the SL65 Black Series. Then there’s naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12 for the Pagani Huayra R, that’s HWA’s own, as is all the engineering work for the recent relaunches of the Apollo and De Tomaso brands. On and on the list goes.

Join us for the Adventure of a Lifetime. Sailing across the ocean with 30 days at sea.
When we bought Eva all those years ago, we dreamed of doing this. Of crossing an ocean, and this is that story. A story of 3 humans and 2 dogs who sailed from the Bahamas, to Bermuda, all the way across the Atlantic to Morocco and up into Spain.

Leaving the Bahamas was sad, knowing we most likely would never sail there again. But the call of new countries to explore made it worth it. It didn't make it into the video, but docking in Bermuda was life changing. It was the nastiest weather we'd been in, and were told we had to dock immediately. Problem is, the area right in front of the dock was crowded with anchored boats, maneuvering was tight and as we tried to dock the transmission broke in a way that meant I was limited to forward gear only.
I somehow managed to peel off the approach to dock, dodged a guy trying to row his dinghy in 30kts of wind thought the anchorage, and dropped anchor so we could try and fix the transmission.


The problem turned out to be a control cable that pulled free, and was temporarily fixable. So after letting the wind slow a bit we were able to try again and dockes up successfully.

This was the start of our time in Bermuda. A place we came to love and after picking up our friend Aiyana a few vet appointments later we were ready to leave. Except there was a tropical storm threatening to become a hurricane directly on our path!

Days 1-18 sailing from Bermuda to Horta were just perfect. We crossed the North Atlantic Ocean! 3 humans and 2 dogs covering 2000 nautical miles, catching some fish, a bird and a jellyfish along way.

We made it Horta hours before the storm we raced pounded the anchorage. We made the right decision by motor sailing the last day. Repairs and reprovisioning in Horta was amazing. We loved our time there and were all sad to leave, but Morocco and the Mediterranean we're calling.

Morocco was shocking. None of went into it as prepared as we normally do if I'm being honest. But I think that lead all of us to just accept Morocco as it was with no expectations, and it was magic. Jade learned she LOVES Tajin and we made some friends there.

Leaving Morocco we managed to not lose our rudder to Orca attacks. Though we saw 2, they deemed us worthy and allowed Eva to pass through their waters unharmed. Thanks for that. We met several boats during our time in Morocco that had very different fates recently.

We reeled in our biggest fish EVER on our way to Spain and gorged ourselves on delicious Tuna steaks the rest of the trip.
We said goodbye to Aiyana in Barcelona and that is epic video ends. The story, the documented life of Expedition Evans, our home Eva, and our little family will continue.
